MapsKrieg in a Mashup Contest – Vote For Me!
Listen to this blog post
I keep forgetting to mention this. A while back there was this cryptic ad on Facebook about mashups and it led to a Dice.com sponsored contest. I figured I would enter MapsKrieg and I sort of forgot about it. Checking the visitor stats, I noticed some people were coming from a contest poll page. So MapsKrieg was chosen as a finalist in this contest!
The prize is $4000, which is pretty neat. So please check out the finalists and vote (preferably for me)! Mine is #2, “Home & Apartments.” I wonder why they just didn’t label it “MapsKrieg?”

I didn’t even look at the other entries. That’s how confident I am that yours is the best.
Also, do you have any moral/ethical obligations to me “stuffing” the “ballot box” in your favor? If not, every time I surf the net (incidentally, from various university computers), I’ll vote for you to win. Not because I like you, but because I’m just such a big fan of homes & apartments in general.
How would they know, I say?!? Unless, of course, they read these comments…
Wow, I didn’t realize you had come up with such a useful tool! MapsKrieg is awesome, esp for someone like me who is frequently looking for new housing. The only nitpicky problem I have is that a lot of Craigslist users don’t fill in their house locations properly, and thus Google Maps can’t find their address, and thus MapsKrieg can’t plot it. That’s totally the fault of the user base though.
@Ender, yeah, that’s kind of annoying. But what can you do? MapsKrieg is also not the best designed site, mainly because I like making lots of random projects rather than polishing only a few. But thanks for the comment! I know a lot of people get some use out of MapsKrieg, so that makes me feel all fuzzy inside. Or is that the money I get from ads?
Does the Nobel Peace Prize count as payola?
Hey, Hung! Cool MapsKrieg! How often does it poll data from craiglist?
