    Word of the Day: titivate

I really love it when they do potentially naughty sounding words for the Word of the Day. Today's word of the day is:

titivate: to smarten up; to spruce.

One of the examples they use is:

In The Idle Class, when Chaplin is titivating in a hotel room, the cloth on his dressing table rides up and down, caught in the same furious gusts.

    — Peter Conrad, Modern Times, Modern Places

Hmmm. Titivating in the hotel room huh? When there's free HBO and Cinemax, I guess that's just natural.

I'll have to use titivate in my everyday vocabulary now to send improper messages to people. Other fun words that I like to use are: “exacerbate,” and “titular.” Go look 'em up!

I'll be around. Titivating in my bathroom, exacerbating in my room (knock before you come in!) and watching a titular actress in a movie.

Toby Dawson – My Olympic Doppleganger?

My sister and her husband came back from a trip to Florida today. While there, they watched a lot of the Olympics on TV. They found this guy that apparently looks like me. His name is Toby Dawson, and he won the Bronze medal in Men's Moguls.

    toby.JPGhung.jpg

That's him on the left (with the Olympic medal, duh) and me on the right. I don't really think that he looks that much like me. A less handsome (and delusional) me? Perhaps. So far in my family, my sister, her husband, and my mom think we look alike. My brother doesn't think I look like him.

So I leave it to you, the reader to decide. Here's my first ever poll: Does Toby Dawson look like me? Answer the binary yes or no. If you do vote, be sure and comment on why you voted for that choice. Results will be up… well, instantaneously.

    T-Shirt Gallery Now Operational!

Something We Guess Not, But Yes

If you haven't noticed on the upper link thing bar, my T-Shirt gallery is now operational. This is where I will display T-Shirts I want, T-Shirts I have, and T-Shirts I have known. I was also going to make a section for T-Shirt I don't want, but that would be dumb.

Visit the Gallery, and be amazed.

David Hasselhoff – Hooked on a Feelin’

While browsing my earlier posts, I came across this one that linked to David Hasselhoff's masterpiece of a music video, Hooked on a Feelin'. Unfortunately, for some reason David has taken the video off of his website. Perhaps he wanted to protect his career? Anyway, I found the video on YouTube, and after all these years, it's still a great watch:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJQVlVHsFF8

    My favorite parts:

    • David flying out of a dinner party and into the African Savanna
    • David hopping up and down with Africans
    • Stupid CG tricks involving a 3D cube
    • David flapping his arms and flying with a bunch of birds
    • David looking at the side of the boat repeatedly, checking for assassins
    • David standing on a motorcycle, and then realizing he doesn't need one, BECAUSE HE CAN FLY!
    • Savanna David singing a duet with flying David
    • Eskimo snowboarding David catching a fish and biting into it
    • Crazy dance immediately following the fish catch

There's also bad lip syncing everywhere and some strange puppet thing makes an appearance a few times. Hooked on a Feelin' has got to be one of my favorite music videos ever. I'm glad that I can once again bring this video to you, my loyal reader(s?).

New Super Mario Brothers DS Video!

    new-super-mario-bros-20050515005347226.jpg

I found this on Boing Boing. It's a “leaked” video of the New Super Mario Brothers game for the DS.

Looks like the level is a combination of the desert level from Mario 2 (complete with quicksand) and has those platforms from the original Mario Bros. Too bad Mario gets hit right after he gets the flower. I wanted to see him spit fire! Damn that annoying Lakitu bastard!

Another thing: When Mario gets turned into little Mario and picks up the fire flower for the first time, guess what happens? Nope, he doesn't turn into big Mario (that's what would've happened in the original Super Mario Bros.), he turns into fire Mario! Yes, the greatest wish of my 9 year old self has come true! Damn, I'm a nerd!
