    Wirefly Mobile Store Review

    Wirefly.gif

First off, I should note that this is a payed review via reviewme.com.

Wirefly is an online store that sells cell phones and service. I think they sell service for just about every carrier, including T-Mobile, Sprint, and Alltel. Taking a quick look at Amazon.com’s mobile phone store, it looks like Alltel is not included. So I guess in that respect, Wirefly wins.

I’m actually thinking about getting a new phone, so I just “pretended” to buy a new phone at both stores. The Motorola Razr V3t immediately comes to mind as something I’d like to buy. At Wirefly, the phone is $49.99 with a $50 rebate. At Amazon.com, the phone is $24.99 with a $50 rebate and a $25 rebate. The prices after rebate are $.01 and -$50.01 for Wirefly and Amazon.com, respectively. These are both the price paid when bought with a plan.

I think Amazon.com is pretty much the standard when it comes to buying phone service online. They have a pretty good reputation and very good prices. I can’t say anything about Wirefly’s service, but it seems okay from the website. I guess the only thing I could say is that if you’re looking for Alltel service, you won’t find it at Amazon.com. Wirefly looks like a decent retailer; it just isn’t as good as Amazon.

I’d still go with Amazon in the end due to the prices and trust I have in that online retailer.

PS3 Apparently Not So Much In Demand Anymore…

    PS3.jpg

Last night on fatwallet, I saw a post about the PS3 being available on Best Buy dot com without having to pay for a ridiculous bundle! I decided to quickly post it on cheapassgamer before the fatwallet horde took them all.

    They’re still available.

Apparently, the PS3 is not really in any kind of demand anymore at all. Here’s a few select responses to the post I made last night:

I saw 10 60GB ones in my BB store. Some people looked at the box for awhile and then wondered off. I think the $599 price scares most people away.

They had numerous PS3 at BB near Regency here in Jacksonville, FL. They are just sitting there.

I have passed on PS3’s at two different stores in the last week. All three stores (Bestbuy and TRU) had more than 5 or 6 just sitting there. I asked workers in the game area and they both said they had been there a few days. Just not worth it to most people.

I’ve walked in to BB, Wal-Mart and Target and every store has had PS3s just sitting there and no Wiis to be seen.

Here are the places I saw them this weekend in Houston

    Frys

    2 best buys

    1 EB games

    1 Gamestop

    2 Targets

    1 Walmart

Ouch. Sorry Sony, I think you’ve lost this round.

Update: I headed over to Target to try and snag a Wii today. They didn’t have any but then I went to Best Buy to see if they had the Wii. Apparently I missed the last one by a minute. I did, however, spot two 60GB PS3s just sitting there, not being sold.

    New Mexico Snow Rescue!

It’s been snowing a hella lot these past few days in New Mexico. On the worst day, we got like, more than 10 inches of snow! My brother was at work and couldn’t get his Miata out of the snow, so we had to go rescue him.

I recently got a Macbook as a graduation gift, so I decided to take some video and make a movie. I present to you, NM Snow Rescue!

    I Purchased A Playstation 3 on Amazon.com: Should I Keep It?

    PS3.jpg

On Friday, Amazon.com had some kind of promotion where they picked a random time to take orders for the Wii and Playstation 3. I was around when the Playstation 3 went live on the site, so I picked up a 20gb PS3. I should be getting it some time next week.

The question now is whether I should keep it to play, or resell it on ebay. The ebay prices have been falling steadily, and I have a feeling it might be a risk to put it on ebay. On the other hand, I don’t really want the 20gb PS3 right now. I’d be pretty happy with a Wii, though.

If I think I can make a profit, I’ll probably just put the thing on ebay. I don’t think it’s too readily available yet, and if I can make a quick $100 profit from taking a box to the post office, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea to me…

Nintendo DS – Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Impressions

    Phoenix Wright.jpg

I recently went on a video game buying splurge, since I finished school and I figured I’d have more time to devote to video games. One of the games I bought was “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.” It was released in limited quantities a while back, gained a cult following, and was subsequently re-released.

Phoenix Wright is a lawyer game. Yeah, that’s right, you play as a defense lawyer. Your job is to prove that your client is innocent, even when the evidence is strongly against him. While this might not sound like the coolest idea for a game, it actually works pretty well. You listen to witnesses give their testimony and try to find inconsistencies. If they lie, you press them until they admit to it, or present evidence that proves that they’re lying. It’s pretty fun.

Right now I’m on the third case, where I need to prove that an action star is innocent of murder. The characters are all fairly amusing, and the story isn’t bad either. Apparently, the Phoenix Wright 2 preorder is underway. You can get a finger stylus to point at liars if you preorder.
